Imagine a training and boarding facility in which your dog stayed in a house with other dogs.  Your dog would
never have a chance to get bored because of the many scheduled daily activities, such as play time,
socialization, exercise, grooming, and nap times.  How would it feel to know that your dog is a guest in
someone's house?

Here at Golden Paws Dog Training, we are all that and more!  I have 2 years experience as a veterinary dog
coming into my home and introduce them to the other dogs accordingly.  Are you the type to worry about
your dog while on a business trip or vacation?  No need to worry anymore - I can provide regular e-mail
updates, and you are also welcome to call and check up on your canine buddy!

which he or she receives three training sessions per day.  He or she will also receive daily socialization, play
times, and nap times.  Every dog that comes to stay with us is temperament tested and introduced to the other
dogs accordingly.  Train & Stay is a great option for those people who want a well-trained dog but just don't have
the time to commit to training.

What kind of commands do we teach the dogs?

Your dog will learn basic obedience, such as sit, stay, down, walk on a loose leash, come when called, etc.  Your
dog will also learn commands such as kennel and leave it.  Because your dog lives in our house, he or she will be
taught basic household manners such as not jumping up and waiting until a release word is given for going
through doors, eating their food, and coming out of the kennel.  We can also teach advanced obedience and
agility and basic hunting commands.

Where do the dogs stay while in the Train & Stay program?

Your dog will live in our house.  My husband and I have four well trained and well adjusted dogs that are great for
socializing other dogs.  Our house is set up perfectly for dogs, with carefully placed baby gates, a large "doggie"
room in our walk-out basement from which there is a door leading into our huge fenced-in yard, and a quiet
kennel room perfect for resting after training and play sessions.  We own three acres out in the country, of which
about two and a half acres is groomed lawn for the dogs to get plenty of exercise.  We have about 4000 square
feet of fenced in yard for your dog to safely romp and play with the other dogs.  We are also very close to hiking
trails, lakes, and woods.  You can be assured that while your dog is with us, we will treat him or her like one of our
own!

How long do the dogs stay at our house?

We recommend that your dog stays for at least 4 weeks so that we may build a trusting relationship with your
dog.  This also gives us time to thoroughly teach all of the basic commands in different situations.  However, our
Train & Board program is completely customizable, so we will certainly take dogs for any length of time!

What does the Train & Stay program include?

Our Train & Stay program includes three training sessions per day.  During this time, I work exclusively with your
dog, teaching commands such as kennel, leave it, stay, come, heel, sit, down, etc.  Training sessions typically last
30 to 45 minutes, depending on your dog.  In addition to the three training sessions per day, your dog will enjoy
socialization time with my dogs, plus your dog will attend some of my group classes to socialize with other dogs.
Your dog will receive at least 30 minutes of good exercise per day in addition to play time with other dogs.  We
have scheduled quiet time to give your dog some time to his or herself.

During the time that your dog is with us, I will keep track of training progress  You will  receive a copy of this log when
your dog comes home.  The Train & Stay program includes unlimited e-mail and  phone support.  You will also receive a
private lesson when you pick up your dog, during which I will go over the daily log and all of the commands that your
dog was taught.  I will have you work with your dog on all of the commands to ensure that you and your dog are
communicating effectively.  Approximately one or two weeks after your dog returns home, I will travel to your house to
see how you and your dog are doing.  The cost of this private lesson is included free with our Train & Stay Program!
We stand behind our training program and will do everything in our power to ensure that your dog's training is
successful.

What do I need to bring with my dog?

The only thing that we ask you to provide is your dog's regular diet.  Because many dogs are sensitive to diet
changes, we like to keep them on the same food.  You may bring your dog's food bowl if you would like.  We ask
you to leave your dog's toys at home, as we have plenty of nearly indestructible toys scattered throughout the
house and yard!  We do provide comfortable crate pads for your dog's nap times, but if you would like to provide
a blanket, we can keep it in the kennel that your dog occupies while he or she is here.

You can be sure that your dog will be in good hands while in our home.  I have experience as a veterinary technician
and am certified by the American Red Cross in Canine First Aid and CPR.  I will provide you with e-mail updates as often
as you'd like, and you are welcome to call and check on your dog.
